Subject: Teenage Asylum Seekers Should Not Be Trapped in Detention Centers

Hi Russell,
About 70 unaccompanied, asylum seeking minors will
soon arrive at a detention center in the remote Western
Australian town of Leonora. This comes amid growing
international concern about the Australian government's
treatment of asylees.
Tell Western Australia that asylum seekers deserve
help, not imprisonment.

Locking up asylum seekers reduces them to the status
of criminals. This violates the principles of
international refugee law, which state that refugees
have the right to cross borders and apply for asylum.
It is even more unconscionable that Australian
immigration authorities would consider treating minors
in this way when much better options exist, such as
fostering them out to visa-holding families of their
ethnic origin.
Tell the Western Australia Premier that this treatment
is unacceptable.

Thanks for taking action!

Hi all,
one of my colleagues had a very funny "vendor lock-in" on an iPhone.
It was completely frozen, just a pretty brick (with his girlfriend's
picture on it, and 7:14, the time when it stopped working, like on an
old broken watch) - and there was no reset button, no switch-off, and
being different as Apple is, you cannot remove the battery either.
Thankfully an iPhone does not last that long without charging. So
after few hours the battery went flat and he could use it again.
Regards
Peter
We have 2 Proliant DL380 servers available for pickup from our office in Brunswick. No RAM or
disks, but otherwise thought to be in working order. Both units equipped with Xeon CPUs.
You are welcome to contact me off-list at if interested.
cheers
Brian

While still doing Climate Change (CC) research (or is that reading?), I
decided it best to try and find something definitive.
I asked myself what is, ignoring those who speak out against CC (1),
that those who support CC as true could offer as definitive and
undeniably caused by CC or its indirect effects.
I put off looking at sea level increase as an indicator because of the
hysteria surrounding its discussion (probably more accurate to say
debate[sic]) but spent a short time on it today.
Tuvalu, it seems is the litmus test for sea level increase caused by CC.
However, there is scant information on other islands being inundated,
Tuvalu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuvalu) is an atoll
(1) Please bear in mind I have concluded that there are outrageous
zealots both for and against CC. I try and ignore such fundamentalists.
Atolls generally tend to "sink" as a result of natural subsidence of the
volcano that created them.
Coral, on which the islands are built, has a small tendency to continue
compacting.
Farming compacts land.
Islands tend to spread out, thus losing height.
