Evening all,
I want to setup a new MythTV media computer as a present and I'm
looking for a hassle free HD TV Tuner that I can buy in Australia.
The last few I've bought have required binary blob drivers or
load-on-use firmware and have painful reliability issues as a result.
I'm after something I can plug in, maybe at worst compile some
libraries, and then expect to work well forever. I'd prefer an
internal card though ease of use will win in my choice and a LIRC
compatible remote control would be a bonus.
I am well aware of the wiki lists of 'compatible' cards and used the
V4L one for my last two purchases which turned out to be rubbish.
So is anyone aware of a tuner card they can recommend that meet my
requirements?
Thanks guys,
Edward
My wife complained to me about www.royalshow.com.au "not working".
She was quite right - it is running like a dog with firefox 15.0.1 on
Xorg. A little digging shows that whenever it is being displayed on the
screen Xorg saturates the CPU core it is on. Click on another browser
tab and (when you can catch the poll) as soon as the focus changes
Xorg's usage vanishes. There is virtually zero external traffic from
the browser, but a fair bit of activity on screen.

I haven't seen an email from the new list yet. Is anyone posting?

Has anyone managed to subscribe to the new list?
I subscribed via web and was sent a confirmation message which I
replied to. The reply bounced. I forwarded the bounce to
luv-tech-owner(a)lists.luv.asn.au and that bounced too.
Same error for both addresses:
"Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the
recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for
further information about the cause of this error. The error that the
other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1
<luv-tech-owner(a)lists.luv.asn.au>: Recipient address rejected: User

Regards,
Anders.

I subscribed successfully, though I used the web link, rather than
replying to the confirmation message.

hi there,
You might be interested in this new project from the Open Pandora crew.
It's an open source game controller for iphone, android, PC, etc.
It also will be used as the controller of Pandora 2, so Pandora fans
like me really want to make sure it gets funded. Hence this spam :)
The funding seems to be going well so far, and iControlPad 2 is still
on the front page of kicktraq.comhttp://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1703567677/icontrolpad-2-the-open-sourc…

For Victoria go to http://www.sustainablehouseday.com/victoria.php
One of the open houses is Mick Harris's at 102 Livingstone Street, Ivanhoe, Melbourne. Mick was President of ATA, (the Alternative Technology Association), for most of the 1980s.
These days Mick runs "Enviro Shops", I think there's one in Frankston & one is nearly moved from Thornbury. I don't know where it's going.
(Hmm...; I have a suspicion about who's at 2 of the other addresses too).
