RDP to a Windows 7 PC on remote subnet (VPN)

Hi all, I have some trouble to connect to a remote Windows 7 computer. We are connected via VPN, I can ping the other side, the port 3389 is open, as telnet shows. The McAfee firewall accepts connections from our subnet. However, if I try to connect using rdesktop on Linux, it is hanging for some seconds, and then the Windows resets the connection. The same if I use a Windows 7 RDP client. Local RDP seems to be fine - I can connect to a local Windows here, and local RDP connections are working in the remote network too. Any ideas? I've seen this running and it's sufficiently interesting to look at further. I believe it's based on Ubuntu. .iso's are downloadable but I haven't been able to get, say, virtual box to recognise it/them as bootable. Any suggestions? regards, Lu

Finding specs on"ati-102-a59401-00(B)" 2x 2 x DVI-I video card

Assembled Illuminati; I picked up a :"ati-102-a59401-00(B)";video card at the Box Hill swap-meet today. This is a PCI (not PCI-e ) 2 x 2 x DVI-I . It seems to work with a dual DVI-I output cable on one of 2 outputs, and a DVI-I to VGA converter.on one of those cable ends. Trying to find the specs on it; has thus far been unsuccessful, after extensive googling. It seems likely it is some kind of proprietary OEM card; but the interesting possibility of 4 monitors motivates me to try to find out what sort of resolution it is capable of and, whether it has some more widely available relative whose driver could be used; any suggestions gratefully received, thanks Rohan McLeod .

AGP video cards

I've got a couple of AGP video cards in my junk pile with DVI output, one of them has no fan (which is a major feature if you like that sort of thing). I'm going to send them to computer recycling if no-one wants them. Normally there isn't much interest in AGP cards, but DVI isn't so common so it might be of use to someone. Interesting, but will you notice the difference between ADSL and NBN over Wifi? So far I don't think I've ever seen anything approaching ADSL speeds over Wifi so I don't expect much difference. Also there's the issue of quota. As the current NBN plans have quotas that aren't much different to ADSL plans I don't expect that cafe to allow me to connect a laptop via GigE.
