Hi All, After essentially 2 years of unemployment, today I =finally= landed a temp part-time job with a small company. Yay! I'd like to run a quick and dirty survey. Sort of a side-service to them, off my own bat. Those of you who create and maintain websites are among the best to ask. Regarding their current website... www.tripstop.net ...how would you rate its overall quality, on a scale of 1 = terrible 5 = average 10 = excellent Probably replying to me directly, off-list, would keep the list traffic level appropriate. You don't have to read through the whole thing. Just a page or two would be fine. No need for any detailed responses. Just a gut feel. Sending me the number alone would be adequate. If you would think in terms of visual appeal, ease of use, getting the message across, navigability, readability, etc. that's my focus. If you want to send any comments or suggestions too, that's fine. Thank you VERY much, and sorry if this topic was not suitable to the list. Carl Turney Mobile 0427 024 735 Bayswater

Given their core market is (AIUI) local councils, how a bunch of linux weenies feel about the site is IRRELEVANT. Hire a marketing firm to make a wanktastic shiny thing that will trick councillors into buying your product.

tidy --accessibility-level=3 is your friend.

Thanks! As it happened, I had to say to someone today "you're wrong in HTML4" and "... I think you're also wrong in HTML5, but my infrastructure is all still geared for HTML4 so I'm not 100% certain I'm reading the spec right."

You could also look at http://about.validator.nu/#src although it could be a nuisance to install, or worse, especially if you find a dependency on Java intolerable. I haven't tried installing it.

Yeah, Java is on my "automatic fail" list, along with PHP.
