Try UNetbootin... will take most ISO files and create a bootable USB device, is cross platform on *nix Mac and windows and you can have download an ISO of common distros or use ones you allready have works by automagic just click and go and it will extract the iso http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ ........... obviously there is some complication which I am not
