My Gay friends are really pissed off at this nonsense.
Why must the Greens continually insist that an individuals rights to freedom of association/religion is somehow anti same sex marriage. The tone of this obviously biased story is that people of religious bent are drones willing to listen to what is preached.
The article reports that the top clergy have issued statements against marriage equality. Obviously they do so because they expect a significant portion of their congregation to do as they are told.
Mixing that up with religious mumbo jumbo will illicit responses like this Australian trash every time.
From the article: # "The legislation before parliament won't force church groups to marry anyone # they don't want to," said Senator Hanson-Young. # # Australian Marriage Equality national convenor Alex Greenwich appealed to # the church leaders for respect, saying same-sex marriage wouldn't impinge on # heterosexual rights. # # "I'd like to send a message to the priests and parishioners that we come in # peace, and we share your respect for the institution of marriage and ... for # freedom of religion," he told reporters in Sydney. Those seem like reasonable statements and comprise the most significant part of the article. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/
