I have been intending to buy this drive for back up of my Linux boxen but Googling shows that some people at least are having trouble with Porsche drives. I understand I can't install the software as it is Mac but then I don't want to. Is there any reason why this particular drive won't work as a standard USB3 on Ubuntu and Devuan laptops? https://www.mwave.com.au/product/lacie-8tb-porsche-design-usb-30-external-de... -- Stripes Theotoky -37 .713869 145.050562

I have a couple of 8TB porsche drives. Haven't had any problems so far. ~ Tim

Perhaps you might have trouble freeing the drive from the enclosure if you want to do that, I had some trouble some time back with a Lacie unit . Besides that, Lacie is now owned by Seagate.... just saying, nothing wrong with that, but I noticed a price drop and that seems to be why.
