Lucid desktop packages are EOL'd.
You should be planning an upgrade path.
I'll strive to hold on to Lucid until 14.04 comes out, and THEN make a
new Ubuntu system on a clean disk.
Given that the OCRFeeder doesn't seem to have a repository that Synaptic
can install from, and I need to download a "deb package"(?) from their
website...

Do I just download ocrfeeder_0.6.6-1_all.deb
save it to disk,
open it with GDebiInstaller, and
all the dependencies (etc.) will be automatically managed?
If I install it this way, and find I don't want to keep it, will
Synaptic be able to uninstall it? If not, how to uninstall it, without
causing complications to other applications that may need some shared
dependencies?
Thanks very much, and I'll understand if you just curse and point me to
some "how to install .deb packages on Ubuntu" web page.
