http://www.alternet.org/marriage-dying Interesting article about the support for marriage being a way of attacking poor people, interracial couples, and other couples who aren't liked by the people in power. The assumption that marriage has to cost $27K is quite strange though. It's one of the problems of using the mean value when the median is more appropriate. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/

Well as one who has never married and only briefly co-habited ; it has always seemed to me that society; particularly governments, large companies and wealthy individuals, benefit hugely from the apparent willingness of couples to spend huge amounts of money, time, energy in the raising of the next generation; the economic benefits of which, seem hard to justify in terms of 'rational self-interest.'; regards Rohan McLeod
