Australia is closing refugee camps on Manus Island(17/8/2016) [well, that what German journalists expect after the highest court of Papua New Guinea declared the camp for illegal] Our treatment of refugees is the most-reported Australia topic for years by now. We are getting famous for it. Sorry, infamous. We may look the other way. The civilized world does not. Apologies for being such a pest. But maybe the bigger pest is some ongoing issue since 2001. This is 15 years of state-sanctioned inhumane campaigning against refugees and ignorance of our international obligations by now. It is high time for all Australians to do something about it.
