I've got a couple of AGP video cards in my junk pile with DVI output, one of them has no fan (which is a major feature if you like that sort of thing). I'm going to send them to computer recycling if no-one wants them. Normally there isn't much interest in AGP cards, but DVI isn't so common so it might be of use to someone. I can bring them to the next meeting. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/

Russel ;on a related subject I seem to recall you had some PCI video cards; are any dual head and if so how much video-ram ? I'm just rationalising two old servers into one : with 2 x 2.5 GHz Xeon's and 2GB RAM , Adaptec 39320 with 3 x 73GB LVD SCSI's to squeeze two more years out of them; before consigning 'rotating rust' to the dust-bin of history! Only PCI-X and bog-standard 32bit PCI slots. I've found the dual head cards; with a DVI-to-VGA converter, allow 2 x 17" LCD monitors/ TV's , which can be picked on the side of the road nowadays.

Yes.

None of them have two ports and I don't know how well they would work with other cards. I also don't know how much video RAM. If plain PCI cards are OK then I can bring some to the next meeting. If you want something special then maybe someone else can help.

You could get a 1920*1080 monitor for $150 which gives you almost as many pixels as 2*17" and probably much better contrast than any old 17" monitor. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/

Well that's an idea , but even if the hardware could 'get along'; me thinks the driver would be hopelessly confused ? I think I'll just stick to dual-head; I'll probably try the swap-meet at Reservoir tomorrow
thanks anyway Rohan Mcleod
