Granted. If the devices support user-servicable batteries, than
I concede the
point. IME tablets do not have that property.
Is there a legitimate reason why not or is it a case of planned obsolescence
(most undesirable from an environmental point of view and costly to the
purchasor over the long run).
At the very least it creates an industry for repair technicians who can
install new batteries for people who can't do it themselves.

I'm not happy about it, but if I'm being honest, I change computer
every two years, and the old one sits in a cupboard until I throw it
out next time I move house. So realistically it's a non-issue for me.
