Here are some of the more relevant parts, you really should read the entire article. # Could it be that as you get farther out on the right, you find more people # whose boundaries are more rigid? They are the hard liners who draw hard # lines. Once those lines are drawn, it’s impossible to have sympathy — to # extend Care — to someone on the other side. If you imagine that you live in # a world where an attack by Them is always imminent, defending those # boundaries becomes very important. # # That seems to be the world of gun-rights crowd lionizing Zimmerman. Their # cherished scenario is the defense of boundaries against those who are # clearly Not Us. They stand their ground and defend themselves, their # families, their houses and property, even their towns and communities. It # is a story they never tire of, repeated time after time in NRA publications. # Zimmerman is a hero because his story, in their view, embodies the narrative # of righteous slaughter.

I read the entire article, AND all the comments, and watched the video embedded in one of the comments. Did you? On Thu, May 8, 2014 at 7:52 PM, Russell Coker <russell@coker.com.au> wrote:

What are you trying to claim here? Do you think that Zimmerman isn't a violent dangerous racist? Do you think that he's less dangerous than the people who deliberately treat asylum seekers badly? -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/

I'm trying to say that I read the article, thanks to you, I read the comments and watched the video, of about 10 minutes, which explains a little about the whole case. I asked if you did. You're sounding like a lot of the closed minded people in the comments. Before you pointed me to this article I was pro-kid. Now I have a bit more information and I don't know. Did you read it all, or just the bits that support your politics? On Thu, May 8, 2014 at 8:26 PM, Russell Coker <russell@coker.com.au> wrote:

Given your response, Russell, yes, I'd say that that this relates well to asylum seekers. People only want to see what they want to see about it. On Thu, May 8, 2014 at 8:30 PM, Michael Scott <luv@inoz.net> wrote:

I generally don't read comments on blog posts about social issues unless they are very firmly moderated (such as on the Geek Feminism blog). Too many idiots and assholes get to comment.
You're sounding like a lot of the closed minded people in the comments.
Previously you have advocated converting gay people to being straight. You cited a book on that topic which has been rejected by some of the people who were in it (the ex-ex-gay people), but the lack of evidence didn't bother you. You are in no position to make accusations of being "closed minded".
Before you pointed me to this article I was pro-kid. Now I have a bit more information and I don't know.
That's a new one "pro-kid". What I want is for the law to operate without regard to race and for people with mental health problems to be banned from owning guns not permitted to stalk and murder children. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Zimmerman The Wikipedia article about Zimmerman has links to information on his past offenses, including domestic violence. He has mental health problems and a history of assaulting women and children. But the right wing extremists line up to get his autograph. Right wing family values. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/
