Re: [luv-talk] Why is there a protest over the East West Link?

In this particular case they were lying AND deluded. They knew what the facts were but deliberately chose not to relay them, and they were deluded enough to think that this would make a difference on the ground.
Every day of war is worth a million dollar and why not keep the business running? I wonder why we are always so shy to name vested interests. Back to the East West Link, the winners are obvious. And the way it was "planned" and gets rushed through makes it quite obvious that nobody cares about the outcome for Melbourne and Victoria. Regards Peter

Well, they've been 'planned' since the freeway was initially on paper. There is the famous protests in 1977 which prevented the freeway being extended past Gold St, Collingwood. That particular protest included barricades, and the mayor of Fitzroy (in full regalia) being arrested. http://www.ycat.org.au/?p=4544 Sure beats putting a signature on a web petition. -- Lev Lafayette, BA (Hons), GradCertTerAdEd (Murdoch), GradCertPM, MBA (Tech Mngmnt) (Chifley) mobile: 0432 255 208 RFC 1855 Netiquette Guidelines http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1855.txt

Sure beats putting a signature on a web petition. And from memory provided a very useful method of hard rubbish disposal !; for the less politically motivated citizens !
