Quoting Paul Dwerryhouse (paul@dwerryhouse.com.au):
The Brexiters have managed to screw that one up, all on their own.
I keep having a daydream that Sinn Féin on both sides of the border prove persuasive (they've been increasingly managing that, to the astonishment of many), the Unionists decide a peaceful deal with the south is an acceptable means of remaining in the EU, as a result of which NI and Scotland withdraw from the 1800 union (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acts_of_Union_1800), invite a spare member of the old Stuart monarchy to be a constitutional monarch, and name their new country the United Kingdom of Britain and Ireland. Meanwhile, England and Wales rename themselves the Kingdom of Little Britain. They can get Boris Johnson to be combination PM and court jester. Just a dream. In our reality, NI is sinking into delusion and corruption under the DUP (which remains Euroskeptic).
