I think you'll discover that the IPA was founded in the early 1940s and GetUp! in 2005.
True ... but the IPA were for all intents dormant until a certain mining magnate pumped them full of money soon after GetUp StartedUp. ...and where is that guy from GetUp now? He was never interested in Poltix when GetUp was started...so he stated... but isnt he a Greens Senator now in Canberra? My point is that extremist POVs only ever exist to argue against each other. They are needed of course in any democratic society where the middle, vast majority listens, takes the best bits, and rolls them into a lasting solution best for all. But in recent years...the extremist tends to operate based on the misunderstanding that their solution is best and everyone else is a bastard for not agreeing...so they engineer ways to make their thing happen WITHOUT WORKING ON GAINING THE POLITICAL CAPITAL needed to make it a lasting solution, which in the end just sets them up for a fail....and in the case where an extremist ideal has merit for the vast majority, every human affected loses. The most pertinent example I can think of that demonstrates this is the Carbon Tax. BW
