Russell and Andrew; thanks for your thoughts on this matter. Just to update the situation in my email above - I am definitely going with this idea of first attempting to 'own'; the above domain and postponing 'hosting' it - The relevant person at the domain 'registrant' (PlanetDomain Pty Ltd) has assured me that; the current 'owner' (Hotkey) has some ? contractual obligations concerning the domain - The relevant person at Hotkey seems quite helpful and is looking into the technical issue of whether I am the sole 'user' of the domain, this seems to amount to whether I am the only person with" jeack.com.au" after the "@" symbol in their email adress - He has informed me via email that the requirements for 'owning' com.au and net.au are: --An Australian registered company --Trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory --An Australian partnership or sole trade --A foreign company licensed to trade in Australia --Be an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark --An applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark --An association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory --An Australian commercial statutory body Now since I am looking for the simplest(and hopefully the cheapest :-)) possible solution to the problem; my questions are : - Does the 'entity' (ie any of the above) which owns the domain need to have "jeack' in it's name ? -- because purchasing the company and company name " Jeack Pty Ltd " is actually an option but a complex and expensive one ! -- IF NOT a much simpler and cheaper option is to own it via one of two "registered business names" which I already have regards Rohan McLeod mclrhn@vfemail.net
