I'm pretty happy with $1/month http://www.tpg.com.au/mobile/pay-as-you-go the only expensive bit is leaving and retrieving messages, but you can turn all that off in tpg's settings. there's $41 in setup cost too. I have this plan for a 7" phone/tablet which is mostly on wifi and only very infrequently used as a phone or with mobile data. pretty happy with it. network is optus. <<apologies for coming into this thread very late>> cheers, robin
