Currently MSY has Netgear WNDR3700 for A$99. It has a 5*gigE programmable switch, 11n wifi, 16MB/64MB, and excellent OpenWRT support.
When are we likely to see devices with excellent OpenWRT support (open drivers) that can serve as an 802.11AC access point? To be more specific about this, I'm using a Traverse Technologies ADSL card for my Internet connection, installed in a desktop machine. When I enter the mobile phone market, I'll need a wireless access point (at the moment, I don't, since all of the devices are within a metre of each other and a Gigabit Ethernet switch solves the connectivity problem well). Newer phones have 802.11AC, so it's worth waiting a while and investing in a suitable access point (presumably, an OpenWRT device or perhaps a PCI-Express card if there is such a product compatible with recent kernels).
