The tarbaby thing I'm a very tiny bit leery about
for the same reason you are, but am giving it a try.
If you *do* set up an SMTP teergrube, I'm interested (so I can copy-paste it).
To clarify, I was lazy and set up a MX 30 entry pointing to 
tarbaby.junkemailfilter.com -- taking on faith that it only ever
tempfails.
