
I assume that the regex strings describe parts or the entire contents of each row. Working out where to start appears to be the biggest problem (at least, the biggest immediate problem!). It's a shame the maker didn't include a start '^' or end '$' token to give people a hint on where to look first. Personally I'd start work on one of the corners, probably starting with '.(C|HH)*'.
