Hi to any Thunderbird wizards out there,
Have tried to install a copy of TB 13.0.1 onto my desktop system, as somehow my laptop has that, and it is running smoothly there.

Have gone to this web page (below), and followed the instructions on "install the newest release".

Hello Carl, I run thunderbird on Fedora 17 at the moment. I found that the best way to install it is to install the version which comes with the first release of the distro, then open it and fill in all the email details that you want it deal with. Then upgrade that version with the very next release, and never jump to the latest update without installing the intervening ones. When I didn't follow this practice there were all sorts of peculiarities that appeared, like the message filter dialog boxes were unusable and sometimes didn't appear at all, and fetching mail required multiple mouse clicks to work and sometimes didn't work.
