Quoting Andrew McGlashan (andrew.mcglashan@affinityvision.com.au): I do have a DNS problem that is bugging me.....
Android phone, mobile data off, local WiFi on. Sometimes the mobile gets DNS answers for public DNS instead of the private one... running bind9.
A laptop continuously testing from the same local network as per the Android phone never, ever gets the public answer
NO other device seems to have had any problems with DNS. Shutdown and disabled dnsmasq that was "accidentally" running on OPN Sense firewall (default gateway machine). Still, I'm confused about another issue now. The Android phone, when DNS queries are made, presents as the client IP of the WiFi AP (setup as an AP and NOT as a router with NAT involved)... not sure what is causing that; I have seen it present with it's own client IP properly, but I can't find out what is causing this .... yet. However, every single query from the Android phone when connected to the WiFi access point is getting the proper private (view) answer.
