Hi Brian When I have had similar problems in the past the SIM card has been an issue for me. I'm guessing it was changed when the phone was handed over? First I'd try to hot-reseat the SIM without rebooting the phone to see what happens. I have given Mum my old Nexus 6P. It worked perfectly when I had it, but now it regularly loses all mobile reception (shows no signal) every 1 to 7 days. The only way to fix the problem is to reboot it.
