I'll be setting up a new office in about 4-6 weeks; I expect I'll have Internet with someone like TPG, which includes both Internet and a phone line.
I imagine I could run a second line using VoIP (with some degradation of audio quality); presumably Asterix or something similar could manage 3-4 phones running over 1-2 lines like this.
This should be easy enough to set up, provided that you have proper Quality of Service (QoS) in place on your router. I would suggest finding a SIP service provider that supports direct inbound dialing, so that each of the extensions can be called individually from outside. There's plenty of documentation on the Web for configuring Asterisk. I migrated from Asterisk to FreeSWITCH several years ago, thus I'm really not the best qualified to discuss Asterisk configuration at this stage. However, it shouldn't be difficult to set up.
