Well boredom is a topic on it's own; I have a friend who changes his wall-paper all the time; and finds my choices dull and their unchanging nature excruciatingly boring;
i change my desktop background very rarely (maybe once per 5 or 10 years), but I generally only see it once every few months in the brief time after rebooting, between logging in and starting my maximised terminals (tabbed, plus tmux - i recently switched from GNU screen to tmux, mostly for the unicode support. on an xfce desktop with top and bottom panels for menus + icons etc). I *like* boring for a desktop, and disable all animations, sounds, and other irritating or distracting UI elements on any machine I use. craig -- craig sanders <cas@taz.net.au>
