FWIW Sony Xperia devices ship with an answering machine on the phone. I haven't tried it out. Sony adds some nice features to their android - I use most of them - location based wifi, power saving modes, ... just I don't use my phone as a phone very much, so haven't tried the answering machine :) cheers, robin
1. answers the call after X rings
2. plays a short message, that I can record like "leave a message after the beep"
3. starts recording, saving to sdcard AND playing on the phone's speaker
and, most importantly:
4. allows me to pick up the call during the recording. i don't really care if it continues to record the conversation from this point or not.
a search on the google play store for 'call screening' or 'answering machine' just gets a shitload of garbage.
