Lev, what's up with the Secular Party? You like them on Facebook.
I follow them. I can't say that I'm a fan of their work by any stretch of the imagination.
Does Facebook have an option for "follow" but not "like"? Facebook tells me that you "like" them. Maybe you could just disagree with a couple of their posts and get blocked by them, I guess that can be counted as a badge of honor.
There is an alternative, the Victorian Secular Lobby. Unlike the Secular Party we have a policy to modify those sorts of legislation which have provisions for offense, contempt, ridicule etc, but this occur simultaneously with changes to defamation law so that class actions can be undertaken.
That might be a workable option, you haven't provided enough detail to judge. But given that we have so many laws being regularly and routinely abused in practice it seems at best a waste of time to change legislation that is hardly ever used and doesn't have any cited examples of it being abused. It's a fairly common thing for a discussion on the Linux Australia list to involve someone imply a threat of a libel suit against me or for some well- meaning person to warn me that I'm disagreeing with someone who's likely to threaten libel action. I'm not at all concerned about such things, but I expect that some people are discouraged from using that list due to such threats and warnings. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/
