Chances are that there is a process that is chewing up CPU and therefore causing your battery to be more engaged. Also, when doing upgrades, it is normally a recommendation that you don't do so unless the battery is fully charged and the phone is connected to power (this is for a number of reasons). If the battery wasn't fully charged when the upgrade was done, then there may be an issue requiring a re calibration of the battery; perhaps doing that will help.
