Reminds me of a story from the Hitchiker's Guide (to the Galaxy) - the take-off of some craft was experiencing a delay while awaiting pink paper napkins: had been on the tarmac for 7,000 years (or some other long time)... It turned out the audio file that was supposed to play when shutting down had been corrupted & couldn't be played, halting the shutdown process.
