Every year my parents buy a book of discount vouchers (such things are very popular among retirees). That discount book allows them to order Woolworths gift cards at a 5% discount. So I get 5% discount on my groceries and petrol and then get ther 4c/L petrol discount because of spending more than $30 on groceries.
Hardly anyone seems to do that so I guess they don't really want the 5% discount.
The hassle & risk put me off. I can get vouchers sent via registered post, but they only insure it for $100 whilst also limiting how much can be bought at a time -- there is a very real risk they can go AWOL; that only has to happen once to make the deal a loss. Paying for them is a hassle too, using credit card takes the 5% down to 4%. If I could walk in and buy them somewhere secure and walk out, then I would be using them all the time. Oh and Coles /seems/ to be better overall for me these days -- more Coles around then Woolies and I can get vouchers for both, but I wish Aldi and some more real competitive alternatives were around and operational for longer trading hours too .... The current, spend $100 in one shop, with 10c extra using 1,000 flyby points will get me 26c a litre. Not brilliant, but it helps when I fill up with Shell premium unleaded fuels ... most of the time I use 100% propane from Supagas, this saves me from getting a bad mix from a regular servo (Coles Express included). LPG is not well regulated for mixture and 100% propane is so much better (for many reasons, most significantly a bad mix of crapgas that I might get from Coles Express or other suppliers is impossible) ... I can trust Supagas to supply 100% propane, that's all they do. Cheers A.
