Do you know of a good program to speed up videos? If so then you could use youtube-dl to download the files, convert them, and then send them to your tablet. I watch a lot of youtube and other videos on Android phones which I download at home, FTP to the phone, and then watch later. So if I was to try and achieve similar goals to yours then inserting a video transcoding step in my video workflow would be my plan. Does avconv do this?
