Just trying out Telstra NextG and seeing if it resolves some of the problems I had with Three (e.g. high network charges when roaming on to Telstra). I have a low end NextG account ~ $40/month; by accident I discovered data was $2/ MB; fortunately before I had downloaded =< 10MB.!
Yes, a lot of Telstra plans have no included data. :( You might have been better off with prepaid, where you can buy a browse pack for cheap data. Anyway, Telstra in Bendigo has been crap lately, with cells losing their data connectivity. Outside of Bendigo, NextG is great. I now have a device running on Internode (which uses the Optus network, that works well here), so I have redundancy. Chances are Telstra or Optus are going to be up in a given area (unless it's outside the coverage range, of course!). My Three phone has its data turned off for obvious reasons. I will be changing that over to another carrier in the next month or two, just waiting for the contract to run out, which is due very soon. 73 de VK3JED / VK3IRL http://vkradio.com
