p.s. Anyone got any old =acoustic= modems out there?
I haven't seen one of those for nearly 20 years!
p.p.s. Anyone ever set up RADIO modems, and used them on a ham or CB rig?
Yeah, heaps of times, and heaps of modes - packet radio, slow data modes, email over radio (WINMOR), and even digital voice. :) Oh, and Linux has soundcard based modems for packet radio, though the kernel modules are not always compiled in off the shelf distros. An aside, using such a setup on CB is illegal under the current class licence. Ham radio as long as you have a Standard or Advanced licence, have fun! :) Not a lot of packet radio in use these days, except for APRS. The other data modes can be interesting and useful.
p.p.p.s. Anyone ever set up a Wok-Fi? (Using a parallel dish (e.g. a wok) to extend the range of an external WiFi adapter.)
Think you mean parabolic dish - I've done it with commercially available antennas and ex Galaxy TV gridpacks. 73 de VK3JED / VK3IRL http://vkradio.com
