Hi, Is the engine mounted to the frame via heavy-duty springs? Can you modify the frame, or build a new bottom-frame to support the original frame, and mount the latter onto the former via springs? Also... A "stake" the size of a phone pole is more than adequate for tethering a Chihuahua. :-) Depending on the size of the pump engine, the size of the stakes (at least 2), soil properties, and any slopes present... there will be a stake size that proves adequate. Bungees may not be adequate to tether to such stakes. Springs may be required. Alternately... Cut a rectangular "frame" large enough for the pump system, out of 4 pieces of 6x2's. Stake each of those 4 sides securely on top of solid level ground. Cut a piece of plywood that neatly fits into the wooden frame. Place the pump system on top of the plywood inside of the new wood frame. You can even mound loose dirt on the outside of those 4 frame pieces, for extra migration-prevention. An engineering problem to exercise the intellect:
I have a water pump powered by an air cooled diesel, all mounted in a frame which in turn sits on two skids parallel to the crankshaft. Air cooled diesels are noisy and leap up and down, a lot, and the pump likes to wander around.
I wish to make an earthen pad to sit this on, but I would prefer not to tether it to stakes with bungee cords, as keeping a stake in the ground without the use of a concrete pad is iffy. So, what profile should this pad have, bath tub or mound?
I think mound is the likely answer, but before I move the dirt I thought I'd throw it open for debate whilst I try searching on line for it. _______________________________________________ luv-talk mailing list luv-talk@lists.luv.asn.au http://lists.luv.asn.au/listinfo/luv-talk
