Whatever, it is a national infrastructure. Unfortunately Tony Abbot sabotaged the deployment on the word of his wealthy business mates who were going to be left with stranded assets. Despite promises of faster and faster and cheaper, it cost a lot more, took a lot longer, and was significantly slower. It would also be better as a public venture for life, not necessarily to be run at a loss, but with any surplus further funding civil society rather than already overly wealthy executives who unduly rely on their "Personal Assistants" who actually do the real work for less than a tenth of the salary of the executive.
Where would we be without Malcolm Turnbull 's technological vision ? :-)
Just because we can do is not a good enough reason that we should do unquestioningly. Whether to do or not, and quite how if we do proceed, needs a lot more thought and consideration than is usual today. Some things are done in a suitable fashion, some that should be done are "left on the shelf", and too much that should not be started goes ahead with unseemly haste and greed. Regards, Mark Trickett
