Check & update your Android version - Pixel Phone Help

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hi, This is probably why I stopped seeing updates.... https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/4457705#pixel_phones&nexus_ devices Minimum update & support periods Device -- Nexus 6P No guaranteed Android version updates after -- September 2017 No guaranteed security updates after -- November 2018 No guaranteed telephone or online support after -- November 2018 So... insofar as official updates go, my phone will likely expire it's useful life in November, 2018. Unless I go with non-stock ROMs by then. I was a bit annoyed not to get the 6th Novebmer patch that was the one that fixes the KRACK problem, but it's all good now; pity anyone whom has this phone and [probably] won't get updates without sideloading though :( Kind Regards AndrewM -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iF4EAREIAAYFAloxEm0ACgkQqBZry7fv4vtb7gD9F+s9gHTVeIEzQSbdTnZ8JEwH +bixCCuW8HgBXJ/SEvkBAKO0WVjvVV0rccOS5aGgIsKFWV9CIrQJWwBOR338PcpT =CyHw -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

My wife's Nexus 6P just got a OTA update to Android 8.1 which presumably has that fix included. So this is working for some Nexus 6P phones at least.
From my observation of Nexus 6P reliability I'll consider myself lucky if my wife's one survives to November 2018 regardless of patch status.

Okay, perhaps I just jumped the gun a little too quick; but I was patient for the 6th November update and it didn't come before I saw the Dec. one....

Aside from this latest lack of updates coming through, I've not had any issues at all with my Nexus 6P either.... just perhaps the issues are with Kogan issued units? My OP5 is great, but it's /usually/ best to stick with Google phones (recent ones) if you want to get the updates in a more timely manner; although I'm not sure the newest Pixels provide enough value and I don't care for any Google assistant. Oh, the 6P, I would rather remove the "Google Search" from it as I never use it and never want to. I do searching on a desktop browser using DuckDuckGo via Tor as they respect my privacy far better than Google ever will. Cheers A

I got my Nexus 6P from Kogan, so not all Kogan ones have problems. But given the way Kogan operates they could have bought phones from different regions so it could be that some Kogan phones have issues while others don't. -- Sent from my Huawei Mate 9 with K-9 Mail.
