Hi, I'm getting the Microsoft Exchange pressure here at work again. We have survived with postfix/dovecot and sieve for quite a number of years. However I have to admit the needs for calendar sharing, meeting requests etc is getting pretty strong. Any suggestions? Or advice about the following? (must work with MS Outlook) ref: https://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/338482-microsoft-exchange-alternatives... These two seem like the best fit so far.. * Zimbra * Open-Xchange Regards, Craig

OwnCloud has GroupWare tools that might add what you need and more. Cheers P

Look at OwnCloud. It is easy to setup and does calendaring and will talk to clients like evolution, thunderbird (via lightening) well. I am guessing it will talk to Outlook also. Also you may consider Zimbra or Zafara. Both will talk to Outlook. Admit that Zafara had some instability issues in some versions - dont know about the latest release though. Sogo is also an alternative I have come across, but it is hard to install. Daniel. On 01/09/15 16:02, craig.luv@shakenautomotive.com.au wrote:

It will not. Outlook does not support Caldav (or Carddav), therefore it does not support any other groupware solution that doesn't provide Outlook-specific functionality. That's why companies are able to charge extra for Outlook support. Cheers, Avi

Just came across that though, so may be hope is not far away!!:) (See: https://forum.owncloud.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8141&start=10) Re: Owncloud and Outlook by aluxnimm » Wed Jun 03, 2015 4:01 pm I would like to announce a new Open Source (AGPL) Outlook CalDAV Plugin: https://sourceforge.net/projects/outlookcaldavsynchronizer/ This plugin gets developed as a project for a master thesis at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien. It is tested with OwnCloud and works also with other CalDAV servers. Since all other Outook CalDAV plugins are proprietary 3rd party modules, this could be an alternative for syncing some Outlook clients. The plugin works for Outlook 2010 and 2013 and is in beta quality right now. In a future release we also plan to add task support and maybe CardDAV. Best regards, Alex

Also have a look at Kolab. http://kolab.org/ No idea what it is like to administrate, I haven't done so for several years. They do have a cloud service, kolabnow, however latency from Australia isn't great, making the website clumsy to use at times.

I know nothing about this particular piece of software, but at some time in the last year, possibly at LCA, someone mentioned it to me: http://sogo.nu/ Looks interesting, but I haven't had time to try it out. Cheers, Paul

Just my 2.2 cents: Sogo looks cool. But it is not easy at all to configure, at least last time I tried (1+yr ago). I did manage to get it to work once, but only as a play thing, and it was ok. Next time I tried again to install/configure, it was too hard and I gave up, due to lack of time. I do also remember that it had moved from version 1 to 2 the second time, which meant a few things had changed from earlier. So unless there are recent deb or rpm packages, and is more stable, it will take some effort. And if someone else has had success recently, I'd like to know as well. Cheers, Daniel.

Hi, I was using Zimbra for 4 years (2011-15) and was quite happy with it. The commercial version offers a Outlook connector. Regards Peter On Wed, Sep 2, 2015 at 2:50 PM, Daniel Jitnah <djitnah@greenwareit.com.au> wrote:
