Hopefully I am looking for some suggestions as currently I am quite confused on this. I have managed to get a Linux box configured for NBN via satellite, unfortunately its in no way reliable. I can get connected but I have to run pppoeconf after every start to get the ethernet connection up to the satellite modem. Now it has worked but it drops out on a regular basis and after it drops out it will often not be able to talk to the modem until one resets the Linux box. I am running the latest update of Debian 7.x. It appears that debian 7.x does not like this set up. What I am going to do before throwing any kind of major fit is to purchase a Netcomm NF4V router, these having inbuilt support that does work (hopefully). This is one of the routers reommended by the ISP (Harbour net). Why does it have to be so difficult to get something like this to work, I have also so had all kinds of problems getting mobile broadband to work, the actual connecting configuration of the dongle actaully varying from ISP to ISP, and its NOT clear which one one is supposed to use, And as usual the ISP' help line knows nothing of Linux. Comments welcome Lindsay
