Is every LUV member a LA member?

http://www.itwire.com/opinion-and-analysis/open-sauce/66827-linux-australia- member-numbers-down-by-30 Sam reports that LA membership is down. To be effective in lobbying LA needs to be able to claim a reasonable membership. Being a LA member costs nothing and only requires being on the announcement mailing list (which is low traffic). Please join LA everyone! -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/

I would think most LUV Members are also LA Members, except those who may have recently joined the LUV Meetup Group, which by the way is just shy of 300, since the meetup group was started a bit over a year ago, admittedly some of them may already be LUV Members and just joined the Meetup group. That's excellent - I'm glad the group is expanding. Incidentally, I joined LA as a result of attending LCA, so, assuming that the membership remains valid, I am indeed pleased to be counted among them.

At the LA annual general meeting in Auckland it was indicated that processing the LCA sign up is currently a manual error prone process, so just because you ticked the appropriate box isn't a guarantee that you are now a member. Not sure how to double check you are a member however. -- Brian May <brian@microcomaustralia.com.au>

Best way I know of would be to attempt to log in to: <https://www.linux.org.au/membership/> It has a password reset feature that distinguishes between unknown e-mail addresses and unknown passwords, which makes it easy to figure out if your e-mail has an account or not.

Ah useful, I thought I was a member having been to LCA in the past and once on mailing lists, but it appears not to be the case. Probably explains why I don't remember having had an email from them for ages. :-) -- Chris Samuel : http://www.csamuel.org/ : Melbourne, VIC

That makes me feel less guilty for never having thought about it, and only joining now. Erik -- Brain, n.: The apparatus with which we think that we think. - Ambrose Bierce, "The Devil's Dictionary"

Surely there is a distinction between joining and being active which for me would mean attending meetings OR interacting via an electronic list (meetup OR asn.au). Maybe for the purposes of some (facebook like friend) count that is enough... On 04/02/15 21:05, Erik Christiansen wrote:

I think I voted on a resolution at some point and I am a member, but unfortunately I can't confirm this. I just searched and I can't find log-in information in the place where I normally keep it. So, I don't know how to check either.
