Currently I'm using block spam by math (forcing commenters to solve a simple addition) and Akismet to stop Wordpress spam. This works reasonably well, now I get about a dozen comments in my spam folder a day (much less than it used to be). Does anyone have any other anti-spam systems that they can recommend? Could you build a rule that permits one comment from an ip per hour or per 4 hours. I did that somehow in Drupal 7, seemed to mess up the attempts. Roger

For e-mail spam I've been using CRM114 quite successfully over the last three years, after several previous unsuccessful attempts to make it work reliably. If there's a WordPress plug-in for CRM114 and you don't mind training a statistical classifier, you could try it.
