I've just queried them about that on Twitter, will see what they say. I'm not after a tablet myself so didn't try and buy one.. -- Chris Samuel : http://www.csamuel.org/ : Melbourne, VIC

Looks like they plan to open it up, but (for pre-orders) want to check that people ordering are real (and have some interest in Linux and/or FOSS): @chris_bloke there's no reason to limit ZaTab sales since they will only go to well-known people @chris_bloke in other words, give us another few hours to open up ZaTab in a way that works for this situation @chris_bloke Lol, by well-known we mean, "not fraud". If we can search "Your Name" and "Linux" or "FOSS" and find any link, that's good 'nuf -- Chris Samuel : http://www.csamuel.org/ : Melbourne, VIC

So, people who live in France, Canada, New Zealand or the USA never commit fraud? :/ Oh well, their business, their choice. Good to see they're responsive though. Toby

Looks like it's sorted out now, plus a shipping discount for us. https://twitter.com/#!/ZaReasonNZ/status/195359599073832960 @chris_bloke Sorry! We opened to AU (no special approval). Please apologize for me to your buds? Use coupon code KIWI for $50 off shipping. NB: They are taking that $50 discount on the chin, so if you feel like being nice to a Linux-centric business you may wish to not use it. -- Chris Samuel : http://www.csamuel.org/ : Melbourne, VIC

probably because if they get scammed by some scumbag using someone else's credit card, they wear the expense of the CC chargeback. credit card companies and paypal etc screw the merchants. for a small company, it's safer and easier to do some vetting of customers than to risk bankruptcy from being ripped off. craig -- craig sanders <cas@taz.net.au>
