[luv-main] Sound Issue With Gigabyte Motherboard

Hi, I've noticed that I get much higher volume sound output in MS windows than in Debian. Obviously I want better volume output. I've checked the volume control and PCM isn't turned down. Is there something else I could check to increase the volume output? This is the output of lspci if that's any help. dz2@Palatinus:~$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL Memory Controller Hub (rev 02) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 01) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 01) 00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 01) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev e1) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 01) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801GB/GR/GH (ICH7 Family) SATA IDE Controller (rev 01) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 01) 01:05.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 13) dz2@Palatinus:~$ uname -a Linux Palatinus 2.6.26-2-686 #1 SMP Wed Sep 21 04:35:47 UTC 2011 i686 GNU/Linux Thanks, David

Suggestion: Check using alsamixer. http://linux.dsplabs.com.au/alsamixer-and-alsactl-store-adjust-and-save-alsa... http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml http://www.linuxplanet.com/linuxplanet/tutorials/7134/1 If that doesn't help, then I have no idea. -- Rick Moen "Top tip: Pay for your homeopathic medicine with a rick@linuxmafia.com glass of water that's had a $100 note dipped into it." I already tried that. I guess it might be some sort of kernel issue. I don't really want to muck about recompiling my kernel at the moment. Thanks anyway Rick.
