I seem to be using telstra.wap, although there is an option for telstra.mms.

I only can find this on GUI level:

Well, the network scan for 3G says: "Telstra available" (and Optus and Vodaphone forbidden - I have a Telstra SIMM) so I am fine, I guess?

For Telstra 3G (NextGen) you need 850, so it looks like you should be fine here. Assuming you don't have 4G.
