I've just booked my early bird tickets and flights to LCA2020 on the Gold Coast. Flights are cheap right now, get 'em while they last! Accommodation on the other hand is expensive as this year's conference is being held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre and not at a University, so there is no student accommodation available this year. Is anyone else going and would like to share a hotel room? Cheers, Andrew

Hi Andrew and others I've purchased my early bird also. I'd be interested in shared accommodation, I would be looking for something close to the convention centre. I would probably fly in Saturday/Sunday and leave Saturday. Cheers Mike

Likewise.

I've booked flights arriving Sunday and leaving late Friday night (10pm). Good thing the trains in Melbourne run all night on weekends! Cheers, Andrew

This may help some traveller's. From Melbourne Airport you can catch a PTV bus 901 to Broadmeadows station. A zone 2 fare. Avoid the Skybus ripoff. On Fri., 11 Oct. 2019, 15:07 Andrew Pam via luv-main, <luv-main@luv.asn.au> wrote:

I have an annual Myki so it costs me nothing extra to use the 901 bus and I usually catch it to Greensborough station, but unfortunately it doesn't run after midnight and this time my flight arrives after 1am. Cheers, Andrew

I have done this myself. Although check to make sure trains are running first. On my return trip (might have been LCA2019), buses where replacing trains which considerably added to the time. Although curiously I was still better off going via the city then catching the 901 bus all the way to Ringwood, although it was only by about 10 minutes IIRC (based on looking the the real time information from the PTV app when I got to Ringwood station). Also note buses stop near terminal 4, which means a walk to the other end of the airport if flying Qantas. -- Brian May <brian@linuxpenguins.xyz> https://linuxpenguins.xyz/brian/
