[luv-main] Analogue video capture device

Anybody know of a currently availible analogue video capture device currently avaible that works with linux. Video Audio in being preffered. There appear to be a signifcant number of USB devices around any of these work with linux. Mind you since it is only for conversion of some tapes to digital probably does not matter if it only works in Windows XP as long as the software does not cost the earth. Lindsay

Most capture devices come with "light" versions of capture software that is Win compatible so that should be easy with little to no cost on the software side

Thank you for the reply mark. I found it some what difficult to match up anything mentioned for linux either on the net or in the src with what is avaible around the place. As the use is essential one time only and the price of these things these days are low I am not going the worry to much. I've ordered one from a local shop (who in fact used to stock one that did run on linux but is no longer avaible) and I will use it on XP. Lindsay

I did find a linux module for it but the name escapes me just now, however a quick google turned up http://sourceforge.net/projects/easycapdc60/ which I didn't know about at the time. ISTR the docs that came with the original driver I found made it sound a bit flakey (mentioned reports of the video capture trashing a filesystem!). I ended up using it under windows - did the job. YMMV depending on the quality of the analog recording that you want to capture of course.
Good luck! - Brendon.
