This (below) is just lintian of the source package; I didn't have the inclination to build the source and there was no .changes for me to dget in the URL you linked to.
All MySQL packages are fairly out of date with current packaging standards. All those who package MySQL and related products (Oracle MySQL, MariaDB, Percona Server) are attempting to fix things, but naturally we're all fairly busy and there's only X number of hours in the day. -- Stewart Smith
