I get all my parts from a local rural supplier. Ross Northmore he has never sold me garbage, everything works as he says it does. He knows his stuff, sells only quality parts at a very low markup above wholesale, has no computer store to maintain, and can explain if something is not going to perform to expectations ---- but is somewhat anti Linux. Couriers to anywhere in Victoria, if that's any help. Roger

Can anyone on the list give me any recommendations for online stores to buy computer parts or for that matter warnings of places to avoid. I am looking to build my first system since coming to this country and don't know any of the suppliers. I always used to use http://www.ebuyer.com when I was in the UK and am looking for something similar in Melbourne. Avoid MSY and Computer Parts Land like the plague. You *will* eventually get burnt. The only question is whether you get enough value out of them before the burning occurs.
MSY in particular have an bad track record (see, for example, http://www.arnnet.com.au/article/383733/updated_msy_fined_203_500_by_federal...). CPL isn't much better, being the target of anecdotal ACCC investigations several times.
I recommend Centrecom (http://www.centrecom.com.au). Their pricing is very close/matches the above, and "service" actually means something to CC.
I've been shopping at Centrecom for nigh on a decade. No real complaints apart from the occasional smart-arse salesperson (who never get to be employed there for very long anyway).
