
SIGHUP indicates that a hang up signal was received by the process connected to that line (I assume this is /dev/ttyUSB0 from previous mail) because the line was marked as down by the kernel. See SIGHUP - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_signal I don't know the exact definition of down - presumably one of the serial signals indicates the line is no longer connected and has gone away - perhaps an expert can give a precise definition of the signals. No problem now, Works OK, Optus must have been asleep. Just a minor question where was the origin of the SIGHUP, its not real clear from the syslog. Previous similiar occurances in the past the origin of the SIGHUP being the ISP. This appears to be the case here

I suspect it means the radio modem loss connection - probably because the other end shut things down - perhaps because as you say Optus's other end was not in a state to proceed any further. Andrew
