Hi, I'm running fsck on my root partition and getting lots of io errors as shown in the link.
What should I do? Is my disk dead or can it still be used?
https://www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue/ It is dying. You want to get the data off ASAP. Use ddrescue to copy it to a disk of equal size or larger and then you can fsck. Don't run fsck when the disk is giving errors, that will probably make things worse. Keep the system reasonably cool and copy the data quickly. You don't know how long the disk will last before it totally fails. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/
